Mak town meets Las gidi mixtape

The collaborative mixtape by Certified C4 & Mista dry gin was released on the 4th of June 2011.It was aimed at connecting hip hop heads from Benue & Lagos states in Nigeria where both artists are from, and was so aptly titled.Mak town meets Las gidi cut across the limitations of state origin, and unlike the name suggests,Certified C4 & Mista Dry gin employ the production and lyrical skill of Channel O award winning Port Harcourt mc,M-Trill on the song tanana, the second song on the mixtape where they spit about flaming up mics, and burning up the track its self as evidence of truth.
On the first song of the mixtape though,C4 & Gin go off on a slower beat and recruit the help of a Biggie Smalls sample to tell their varying stories of coming up as lil ones up to the point they are now.
Track three is a little darker, more street and more authoritative as Certified C4 & Mista dry gin declare their arrival in the industry and refuse to take no for an answer on the track,Countin money.

After a studio skit on the fourth track, they switch topics on the fifth and address shady friends, family & industry people on back stabbers.
Hell breaks is number six on the track list and is a studio freestyle. Both mc's just let out lyrical toxins on this one
The seventh track,Fatality,is a studio freestyle too.Mista dry gin sports his usual cocksure bars with lines like "i dont beg for shit, except a fuckin pardon" & "bitches tryna hola, niggas tryna feature...if you dont get me i bet you get the picture",while Certified C4 goes a lil educative and spits some hip hop knowledge. He starts his verse:"ayo its all about balance, the flow of life..keep a peaceful mind when you going through the strife".He then moves on to remind listeners that he is the whole mc package"omo i kick knowledge,im street n i'v been to college" and reassures us of his realness"but i acknowledge everybody reppin the art n I'm jus tryna get paid while playin my part".
On the eight track,Insomnia, they speak about day and nocturnal hustle,in the booth and on the streets.
On the ninth,Style, swag & sex appeal, both mc's go on a beat produced by Malawian producer/artist, Mac,and show a slightly softer side, talking about their perfect or dream chic.
Track ten can be labeled as the theme song of the mixtape.Connecting the plots brings the mixtape title to life as Certified C4 narrates on the first couple lines on the hook of the song "this for my Mak town, this for my Las gidi.we're connecting the plots bringing together two cities".
To bring the mixtape to an explosive close,Certified C4 starts his bars on Big problems military style ("this is real time shit, man your stations.im bout to execute a false flag operation..seek n destroy, straight termination....") to go with Mista dry gins braggadocio laden lyrics.
The mixtape was put together at Certified C4's east london basement studio in a series of day and night sessions. Most of the lyrics were written and recorded on the spot, with the studio always filled with fizzy drinks, weed, alcohol and sometimes other hip hop artists like Fazillion of M.A.S(microphone assassination squad).
All in all the mixtape is a unique display of underground hip hop talent from two mc's with two entirely different styles. And I need not say its a breath of fresh air to the swagger and champagne popin infested music industry in Nigeria today.
